Scouted out a new route north of Wasa to connect to Lussier River road in early September. Started out in Corbin early in the morning and made my way over to Fernie via Coal Cr road where I jumped on Sulphur Cr. Rd. Took Bull FSR west to Ft. Steel and fueled up. Short highway section up to Wasa where I jumped back on dirt and the video begins.
Mixed it up with a few SxS's and a quad on some really fun 2-track. The connector road from White River Rec site bridge over to Monroe Lake is one of my favorite dirt routes. Twisty and flowy with lots of elevation changes.
The last stretch heading south down Bull River FSR the speeds picked up and the wee GoPro mic could not handle it when I was seated. I liked the footage and decided to not toss it and just put some ambient music over it. I hope the vibe I was enjoying on the bike translates to the viewer.
Was about a 400km day. Empty routes and perfect weather. This route is what you make it. I have putt putted my way around it and enjoyed the view and I have also put the hammer down when the conditions are appropriate. What ever your ambitions are for this route, it delivers with scenic vistas, fun dirt with good sight lines and plenty of scenic stops.
I flew 4 full batteries with the drone on this ride so there is quite a bit of drone footage.
Again, the 690 performed without complaint. Had a new set of Tusk ADV tires on for this ride and although not quite as sticky as the Pirelli MT21's, for the cost savings I will continue to run them. My 690 is a 2015, purchased new, with about 25k kms on it now, 95% dirt ridden. In the spring It will be time for a tear down and refresh. Cheers fellow dirtbags, until next year.
